1. Who we are
This website, https://carolinebush.com, is the home of Caroline Bush's creator and business work. It is operated by Caroline Bush. The brands on this site are:
- The Cherry Edit, a product-discovery brand that publishes curated product ideas, mainly on Pinterest, some with affiliate links; and
- Tech UGC, technology-focused user-generated content made for brands.
In this policy, "we", "us" and "our" mean Caroline Bush, including when acting as The Cherry Edit or Tech UGC.
2. What this policy covers
This policy covers:
- this website, including The Cherry Edit and Tech UGC pages;
- emails you send us;
- business information exchanged when a brand works with us on UGC or a partnership;
- affiliate links in The Cherry Edit's Pins and on this site; and
- a private analytics tool, for our own use only, that reads The Cherry Edit's own Pinterest account.
It does not cover Pinterest, Amazon, social media platforms or any other website we link to. Those services have their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect
When you visit this website
This website has no analytics, advertising pixels, JavaScript, newsletter sign-up, embedded social media widgets, videos or posts, third-party fonts or third-party scripts. It has no user accounts, comments, checkout or contact form, and it does not set cookies of its own. All of its images and files are served from this website itself.
Like any website, it is delivered by a hosting provider. Ours is Cloudflare, whose servers automatically process technical information in order to deliver and protect the site. This includes your IP address and information about your request, such as your browser and device type, the page you requested, the referring page, and the date and time. Cloudflare's security systems may, in some circumstances (for example, when checking whether traffic is automated), set a strictly necessary security cookie. Cloudflare handles this information under its own privacy policy. We do not use this information to identify you, and we do not combine it with other information.
When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address, your name if you include it, and whatever you choose to write. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
When a brand works with us
If you contact us about UGC, a partnership or other business, we receive the business contact details and project information you share, such as your name, role, company, the product and the brief. We use it to discuss and deliver the work and to keep business, invoicing and tax records.
When you click an affiliate link
We participate in the Amazon Associates Program. Some links in The Cherry Edit's Pins, on our Amazon storefront and on this site are Amazon affiliate links. When you click one, you leave our content and go to Amazon, which may set cookies and collect information under its own privacy notice so it can credit us for qualifying purchases.
Amazon gives us reports of activity from our links, such as numbers of clicks, items ordered and earnings. These reports are aggregated: they do not tell us who you are or show us your name, address or payment details.
When you follow a social profile link
Links to our profiles on Pinterest and other platforms are ordinary links. Nothing is shared with those platforms until you click one; after that, the platform's own privacy policy applies.
4. Our Pinterest analytics tool
We use Pinterest's API for personal, single-user access: a private software tool, used only by us, connects to The Cherry Edit's own Pinterest account once we authorize it through Pinterest's own sign-in and permission screen.
- What access it asks for: read-only access, using exactly these Pinterest
permissions:
user_accounts:read, to read our own account information and account-level analytics;boards:read, to read our own public boards; andpins:read, to read our own public Pins and their analytics.
- What it reads: information about our own account, boards and Pins, and the performance figures Pinterest provides for them, such as impressions, saves, outbound clicks and engagement.
- Who uses it: only us. It is not offered to the public or sold as a service, other people cannot sign in to it, and it does not access anyone else's Pinterest account or other Pinners' private data.
- What it does not collect: the performance figures Pinterest shares with us are totals. The tool does not collect names, profiles, messages or contact details of the people who see, save or click our Pins.
- What we use it for: reporting and analytics on our own content, recommendations for what to create next, and testing which ideas, boards and formats are useful to people.
We use information received from the Pinterest API only for these purposes and in line with Pinterest's developer terms and policies. We do not sell it, use it to target advertising, or share it except as described in section 6. If the tool ever needs additional permissions, we will update this section before requesting them.
5. How we use information
- To deliver, secure and troubleshoot this website.
- To reply to messages and keep a record of our conversations.
- To discuss, deliver and invoice brand, UGC and partnership work.
- To measure how our own Pinterest content and affiliate links perform, in aggregate.
- To meet legal, tax or accounting obligations.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not use it for targeted advertising.
6. Sharing
We share information only:
- with service providers that run things for us, and only as needed for them to provide that service. These are our website host, Cloudflare; our email setup, Cloudflare Email Routing + Gmail, in which messages sent to our address on this domain are routed by Cloudflare Email Routing to our existing Gmail inbox, provided by Google; and other everyday business tools, such as for invoicing or file sharing, when a project needs them;
- with professional advisers, such as an accountant, where needed for our own business records;
- when the law requires it, or to protect our rights or the safety of others; or
- with your permission.
7. Storage, security and retention
We take reasonable steps to protect the information we hold. For example, credentials for the Pinterest API are kept out of code and public files, and only we have access to the analytics tool and its data. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
We keep information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including internal analytics, running the business, keeping records, responding to requests, and meeting legal, tax or other compliance requirements. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it or stop using it. Pinterest access tokens are deleted if we disconnect the tool from our account.
8. Your choices
- You can browse this website without giving us any personal information.
- You can ask us what information we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing hello@carolinebush.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and as required by the law that applies to you.
- To control how Pinterest, Amazon or other platforms use your information, use the privacy settings of those services.
9. Children, other regions, other sites and changes
Children. Our content is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Visitors from other regions. This policy is written with U.S. visitors in mind, but anyone can visit this website. If you visit from another country, the information described here may be processed in the United States and in the other countries where our service providers operate. You can contact us with any privacy request, wherever you are.
Other websites. Our Pins and pages link to other sites, including Pinterest and Amazon. We are not responsible for how they handle information.
Changes. If we change this policy, for example because we add a new tool or service, we will update it on this page before the change takes effect and change the effective date at the top.
